I have been recently reflecting upon the way we are losing the opportunity to parent our children. As the government extends it's reach further into public education, adoption, marriage and other issues dealing with the family, I am reminded that the governments have never been able to raise children. Parents, good or bad, ultimately have the responsibility to raise and educate children. Our nations will only be as strong as our families. Parents need to be supported in this great role, not to have their parental rights slowly usurped by governmental regulations and restrictions. The current court case in California regarding home schooling is a prime example and should worry ALL parents, not just those who home school. What will the government go after next? Will they tell you what clothes your child should wear? That unless you have a degree in Social work, you cannot raise a child in your home? Or unless you have a degree in early childhood development or a medical degree in OB/GYN you cannot have a child? It's time to let parents raise their children and to get the government back into its proper limited role and out of our homes and schools.
